I'M IN THE HOUSE...

I thought that title would be fitting since we were all headed to the Steve Aoki show. Minus the fact that I left before Steve Aoki came on at 12 pm...lame. Anyway, my name is Gena and I am currently a life wanderer. Actually, I’m going back to school for an MPH and eventually plan on heading to medical school.

My passions are mainly movies, music, and medicine but I can dig politics especially if it has to do with health care and human rights.

I feel like I used to rush through life, but recently I’ve decided to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Since this blog is about music, politics and more importantly freedom of speech, here is a sick tribute to that.

MLK NICKI- MOMENT FOR LIFE by J Will

Greetings!

I’m Corey another one of Mike’s PIC. I’m the one in the crew who brings all the charisma and just generally knows way more about good music than the other two.

I’m a middle school teacher in NYC and my only real passions are shaping young minds and music.

I’ll be sharing my tastes with all of you readers and hopefully you will enjoy what I provide. And if you don’t, sorry, I guess.

This was one of my summer jams last year and the beautiful weather yesterday brought it back to memory. It’s a really laid back and fun song from a great swedish band.

It also says a lot about who I am as a person and what I believe: Don’t believe in capatalism, believe in rock n’ roll!!

Saying Hello

Hey all,

I’m Andrew Beam, that partner-in-crime Mike was referring to. I think he asked me to contribute because we have an eerily similar taste in music, and gin, actually. That, and we just have the same mindset about things which I think will become quite evident as the blog progresses.

I’m currently a reporter for a local newspaper in Upstate New York. I write about all that hokey community stuff while breaking news in the local politics realm.

I also have a profound love for music and politics. Both of those control my life. Which is what I will mostly be writing about here: Music and Politics. People say one is sometimes the result of the other but I try to keep them both separate.

But what do i want to talk about right now? The Arctic Monkeys. They’re fresh on my mind because they released this lovely barn burner of a track called “Don’t Sit Down Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair”.

It has that psychedelic feel left over from their previous release Humbug, as well as a more grungier tone that I personally think is due to hanging out with Josh Homme too much. But let’s be real, there’s no such thing as too much Josh Homme:

Welcome

So I've been toying with this idea for a while now, you know, the whole starting a blog thing.  The words on these pages won't just be mine...I already have one partner-in-crime, and I plan on getting other voices on here as time goes on.

About me?  I'm a twenty-something year old male living in Upstate New York.  The rest of the story?  Well, I guess that's what this blog is for.

Fun fact: The name of the blog is directly taken from the name of a song by The Snake The Cross The Crown, who are, in my opinion, one of the most underrated American bands ever.  It's a shame they have been broken up for a few years now.  Take a listen here: Daytrotter Session - The Snake The Cross The Crown
